Fred GrahamDr Frederick Graham (PhD, BNurs)

Fred Graham is Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) for Dementia & Delirium at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) in Brisbane, QLD.  In this role, Fred has been involved in developing and implementing quality initiatives for people with cognitive impairment, including the recent formation of a cognition champions’ network throughout the hospital. His recent PhD research focused on whether hospital nurses recognise pain-related agitation in older cognitively impaired patients. Fred is PI for a research project evaluating the impact of PAH’s Acute Cognitive Unit for severe behavioural and psychological symptoms.

PAH opened this Acute Cognitive Unit in January 2020. 1.5 years later there is some positive preliminary data to report. Fred Graham will describe the unit’s operation, its model of care and the preliminary evaluation results.
