The Healthy Gut Diet for Preventing Gestational Diabetes Study

Pregnant women in Queensland with one or more risk factors for developing gestational diabetes are invited to join The Healthy Gut Diet for Preventing Gestational Diabetes Study.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most common condition pregnant women can experience, with 1 in 7 pregnancies now being affected by GDM. Recent evidence has shown that women with gestational diabetes have a different gut microbiome to women without gestational diabetes, leading the researchers to question whether changing the gut microbiome through diet can help GDM. The Healthy Gut Diet for Preventing Gestational Diabetes Study is a randomised controlled trial for Queensland pregnant women with one or more GDM risk factors.
