Dr Cook started work for Qld Health in 1980, has worked in a range of roles including wardsman, lab technician, a doctor working with the flying surgeon, and finally training as an anaesthetist and critical care specialist. He is adjunct professor with QUT Science and Engineering Faculty and Associate Professor with the University of Queensland Medical School. His PhD was in Machine Learning and sequential statistics at UQ ITEE 15 years ago. He has experience with the design and practice of ongoing and sustainable analysis of data for process development. He has worked with the national ICU registry committee to develop the charting and reporting of risk adjusted outcomes, and subsequently the AOTA national organ donation audit committee to develop an audit tool to implement and assess clinical policy.
