6 Dec 2019

The UQ investigator team from the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Telehealth has worked for the past 6 years to advance the knowledge and research capacity in telehealth before the centre conclude at the end of September.

The centre’s lead investigator, CHSR Director Prof Len Gray, in collaboration with Prof Peter Brooks from the University of Melbourne, invited policy influencers and health industry leaders to a Policy Forum “Telehealth Futures” on 15 October 2019. The aim of this event was to explore how telehealth integration can be facilitated by policy and funding arrangement in Australia.

A background paper was circulated to attendees prior to the event. It outlined the status of telehealth in Australia and examples of programs re-engineered thanks to telehealth in Australia and overseas.

These are now available in a document which also summarises the forum discussions click here to access the document. The discussions focused on key principles for telehealth, issues in the health system which impacts on telehealth implementation and suggestions to enact policy changes.
