AD-5D Quality of Life in Dementia

Communication issues, such as carrying on a normal conversation or remembering words, are often the first noticeable symptoms in people living with dementia. As dementia progresses, reading ability deteriorates and vocabulary shrinks, and in later stages they can no longer express their thoughts in words. These issues present a major challenge in involving people with dementia in making decisions, rating their quality of life and providing feedback on the health and aged care services they receive.

The aim of this project is to develop, trial, and evaluate an audio-pictograph tool that will enable the active participation of people with communication and language barriers in rating their own quality of life.
