The Centre has strong international collaborations throughout Europe and North America, contributing to an international effort to create "multi-domain" third generation assessment systems under the auspices of the interRAI Research Collaborative. It specialises in multi-national and multi-site studies, with over 30 organisations participating in its research programs over the past 5 years.

The Geriatric Medical Foundation of Queensland  
The Geriatric Medical Foundation of Queensland has provided extensive funding since 1989 to support the Masonic Chair in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Queensland.  In addition, financial support is offered to facilitate the "telegeriatrics" research program conducted by CRGM. Centre for Online Health (COH)
COH is part of The University of Queensland and is based at the Royal Childrens' Hospital in Herston, Brisbane. The Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine (CRGM) collaborates with COH to provide geriatric services to remote areas via videoconferenced ward rounds and case conferences. The COH and CRGM are also developing a software solution that supports comprehensive geriatric assessment via the internet. Find more information on the COH website.   

Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit, Princess Alexandra Hospital 
The Princess Alexandra Hospital Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit strives for excellence in patient care, education and research. The unit's mission is to work with patients and their carers to promote, maintain and improve the health, well-being and independence of patients through the provision of multi-disciplinary, diagnostic, therapeutic and outreach services.

The aim of the unit is to establish a quality geriatric service to meet current needs of the region and to improve the health of the elderly in the region.

interRAI Australia Coordinating Centre

Quality of Care for Older Persons
The quality of care provided to older patients supports positive outcomes following health care interactions.Quality indicators are one way to monitor performance and to provide feedback to health services, policy makers and consumers on levels of care.  This research collaboration is focused on supporting the development and implementation of robust, evidence based quality indicators for older persons in health care.

Rehabilitation Studies Unit, University of Sydney
The CRGM is currently working with the Rehabilitation Units at Flinders University & Universtity of Sydney on a 5 year NHMRC funded program of work that will evaluate the effectiveness of the federal government's newly introduced Transition Care program. The program will assess the extent to which the Transition Care program achieves its stated aim of facilitating the transitions of frail, older people when they are discharged from hospital.

Toowoomba General Hospital
The Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine provides a geriatric consultation service to Toowoomba Hospital as part of its research and development activities. This service includes online comprehensive geriatric assessment, ward rounds by videoconference and case conferencing.
